Gaudí's mosaic

Today's winter evening was dedicated to the famous Gaudí and his iconic lizard artwork. We introduced participants to Gaudí’s life and work, learning about his innovative use of color, texture, and geometry in art and architecture. Inspired by his famous mosaic technique, we crafted our own mosaics using various types of paper, textures, and shapes. To make our creations even more vibrant, we added sparkles for a touch of brilliance. This workshop was not just about creating art; it also helped develop valuable English and artistic skills. Through interactive storytelling and group discussions about Gaudí’s life and achievements, participants expanded their vocabulary with art-related terms, improved their listening comprehension, and practiced describing their own artistic process in English. These activities encouraged confidence in speaking and expressing ideas in a second language.

By experimenting with different materials and textures, they enhanced their fine motor skills and developed an appreciation for the mosaic technique. The combination of language learning and creative expression made this workshop a truly enriching experience.

On the artistic side, the hands-on nature of the workshop allowed participants to explore design principles such as composition, balance, and the use of color.  It fostered creativity, curiosity, and cultural appreciation while giving participants the tools to articulate their artistic journey in English.
